BUBONIC PLAGUE
HOPEFUL OUTLOOK IN AUSTRALIA. Sydney, September 26. Precautionary .measures are being taken on the steanier Ulimaroa, which arrived at Wellington on Saturday from Sydney, in view of the ■ outbreak of p'la.guo in. Australia. The vessel remained out im the stream till yesterday morning, when she berthed te discharge heir cargo. Passengers, with their hand luggage, word brought ashore on Sat in - day afternoon by tho ferry steamer Drcbess. Rat. traps have been set on board the Ulinwoa, and yesterday morning two rats were sent to the Bacteriologist for examination. Last evening at 5 o’clock, and subsequently every evening while she is in isn't. the Ulimaroa. will move out into the stream till the following morning. Extra measures have been taken, while the, vessel is lying at the wharf, to prevent the passage of rats from tho ship to the land
