The Eastbourne Borough Council wet on Friday Ifct. There were present:— The Mayor (Mr. F. 11. Mather), and Councillors W.. H. G. Bennett, C. C. i Green. C. Hartridge, C. A. . Tt" communication was from tho Wellington Harbour - Board advising its inability to extend the present lease to the ferry offices, and promising to give rhe matter consideration prior to the expiration of the present lease. It was decided to leave the question of engaging a band for tho summer spason to play on tho ferry steamer and at tho bays for discussion at a later date. The offer of tho service of, a brass band and that of an orchestra was An offer was received from the Petone Council to My gas mnins and to supply gas to the borough. It was resolved.’to ask the Petono Council to furnish details. In respects to land which /had been purchased for a recreation ground, i.t vvas decided to pay £l()t> off’ the principal, together with interest due. Tho sports ground improvement committee inquired if the council would be wu?ing (tf'receive a deputation to hear propositions with the obiect .of improving the sports ground. The request was granted. and tho deputation is to wait upon tho council nt its next meeting. The general manager (Mr. S. Dodge) Tri his monthly report stated that maintenance works on the streets of tho borough had been carried out. during th« past month, nnd the trees in the recreation grounds end paths in the reserve were receiving attention.
