A lecture on "Experiments with Coal Gas” was given by Mr H. Rands, M.A., D.Sc., to tho members of the Gas Officials Guild on Tuesday evening, in the Gas Company’s demonstration room. Tho lecturer, by means of experiments, demonstrated the pressure of various gases contained in purified gas, and showed the effect upon a gas flame when air is added in various quantities, end at different points. One very interesting experiment shewed air burning in ar. atmosphere if gas, and gas burning in an atmosphere of air. Mr. Rands held th? close attention of his audience during a two-hour lecture, and at its close ri’ accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his interesting and instructive lecture. There are now 6717 officers and 117,261 other ranks in the Territorial Army of Britain.
