NOT AN ORPHANAGE FUND
WHAT THE COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS ARE DOING. (To the Editor.) Sir,—A report has appeared in local papers that this association intends shortly to raise a fund of £3OOO to assist an orphanage, and has been granted the use by the Wellington Barbour Board of “M” Shed for a month. This report is not quite correct. Every year this association has raised n fund amongst its own members for providing Christmas comforts for children in fain homes and orphanages in Wellington. _ ; This year'' it is intended to do something on a bigger scale, and at a general moetins. of the committee of thin! association, held on September 22, it was unanimously resolved to raise a fund, by means of a public appeal to assist established charities, such fund to b© administered by tho committee of this association, and Um distribution of such a fund to bo nt the discretion of the committee of this 'association. . 1 No specified sum was mentioned, and . tho fund will not bo raised for any one / orphanage. The Harbour Board has’ kindly lent “M” Shod to the association, and if is probable that a. Paddy’s Mor-’ ket or jumble sale will be conducted ■ there—l am, etc., R. E. SEI,BY. Secretary.
