SITUATION IN MALABAR SERIOUS r * REBELLION NOT BROKEN YET By Tclegraah—Preus Association—Gonrrlch* Delhi, September 18. It is officially stated that the Malabar situation is serious. The rebellion has not been broken, and, except in the immediate vicinity where troops are operating, life and property of non-Mohamme-dans are unsafe. Roads and bridges, which the troops repaired in the interior districts, have been destroyed again. Five bodies of rebels, totalling five thousand, are/ operating at various points. Suppression by the military is hampered by the rebels’ mobility.—“ The Times.” ARREST OF MOHAMMED ALI. Delhi, September 18. Mohammed Ali -'was arrested while travelling in a train from Calcutta to Madras. Troops and rebels had an engagement between Manaarghat ai(d Polghat. There are no details. The rebel chief proclaimed Erual and Walluvanad independent of tho Khiafat kingdom. Boat loads of refugees, each having to pay a ransom, are arriving at Callout from Nilambur.
