Owing to the light and colour of the background the plates were very difficult to see. The shooting oni the whole was very good. Test, of Endurance (rapid fire).—S.-M. G. W. O’Sullivan, N.Z.P.S., 1; Sgt. D. J. Dalglish, Nelson College, 2. The winner's average was 15, and that of the runner-up was 11.6 Major P. B. Henderson states: "The shooting in both cases was very good. The rounds fired and points obtained by S.-M. O’Sullivan brings out the value of training. About the fourth minute the oil vapour rising made it difficult for the firers to set? the sights, and by the end of the seventh minute they were practically invisible, which proves that rapid fire should be employed only in >sort sham bursts, favourable to surprise, observation of fire, covering movement and maintenance of control.” Tn one minute, S./S.I. G. P. O’Leary, N.Z.P.S., and Cpl. H. J. Freeman, Wellington College, fired 19 and 13 rounds respectively.
