It is reported that tho United States Government is hopeful that an agreement or treaty may be concluded between the Allied and associated Governments prior to the convocation of the Armament Conference, whereby not only tie rial us of Yap, but also related mandate questions. will bo satisfactorily settled. It is regarded as certain that the Allies will welcome any settlement of the Yap controversy that is agreeable to the United States and Japan, though technically all the Powers must formally approve. It is understood that imf.otiations between America and Japan regarding Yap are progressing sa.mae.tonly. Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
