GERMANY TO PAY FOR AMERICAN LIVES LOST BEFORE RELEASE OF ENEMY PROPERTY By Telegraph—Press Association— Oonyrtcht Washington, August 29. Tho custodian of alien enemy property has announced that Germany must pay for the American lives lost in tho. Lusitania, and must satisfy all other claims, before tho German property held in the United States will be released. The claims include £60,000,000 in connection with the Lusitania and £50,000,000 for the maintenance of the United States Army of Occupation. Tho value of tho German property held in the United States has depreciated, and the present estimate of its value is £80,000,000.— Reuter.
