The monthly sitting of the Upper Hutt Al agist rale's Court was held yesterdaj, Mr E. Page, S.M., presiding. Clarence August pleaded r*t guilty to tho theft of 2flb. of butter And -11>- m sugar, value Bs. Gd., the property of the Defence Department. His defence was that' ho was taking, the goods home lor the purpose of making a cake for the officers’ mess when ho was accosted by the guard at the gate.
