AUSTRALIA BEATS GLOUCESTER BY AN INNINGS < MAILEY SECURES ALL THE WICKETS By Telegraph— Press Association—Copyright London, August 23. Play in the match between tho Australians and Gloucestershire was continued. to-day. Gloucestershiro completed its second innings for a total of 175 runs. The weather was dull and misty, and there was a small attendance. The wicket was slightly affected, by drizzling rain in the morning. The feature of tho innings was Mailey’s remarkable feat in, capturing all ten wickets for 66 runs. Keigwin -and Seabrook resumed to the bowling of Armstrong and Malley. The ball was greasy, but the batting was fairly bright. Keigwin lifted Mailey to Mayne at cover-point when, at 65, and. the catch was accepted. He had batted two hours, and hit one six and two fours, playing better and more surely than in the first innings. Seven for 158. Collins dropped Mills badly at extra cover, off Mailey. The newcomer had scored, throe when Pellew accepted an opportunity at square-log boundary. Eleven 'runs later Seabrook returned one to Mailey, having scored 30 foy enterprising batting. Mailey found Bessant’s stumps before ho had. scored, and Australia won by an innings and 136 runs. Besides Mailey, four English bowlers have taken all ten wickets in matches this season—Rushby (Surrey), Parker (Gloucestershire), White (Somersetshire), and Bestwick (Derbyshire). The position of the leading counties has been further changed in consequence of the victory of Middlesex over Warwickshire and the draw between Surrey and Yorkshire.
