JAPAN WINS SEMI-FINALS. (Rec. August 21, 5.5 p.m.) Chicago, August 19. Japan won the senri-iinals in the Davis Cup. Shimidzu and Kumagee defeating Sleem and Fyzee, 6—l, 6—l, 2 —6, 26, y—o. The Indians were outclassed in the first two sets. They made a gallant recovery to gain a tie in the fourth sot, but were unable to hold the paca. Ths Japanese exhibited slashing tennis, and won the last set easily—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (Rec. August 21, 11.5 p.m.) New York, August 20. In the singles Kumagee (Japan) defeated Fyzee (India), 3—6, 6 —3, 6—3, 9—7. Shimidzu (Japan) defeated Sleem (India), 7—5, 2—6, 6—o, 6—-2.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. MRS. MALLORY WINS WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP OF AMERICA. (Rec. August 21, 11.5 p.m.) New York, August 20. The women’s national tennis championship of America, was won by Mrs. Mallory, who defeated Mrs. Mary Browne, of Cidifornia, 4—6, 6 —4, 6—2.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
