Duncan and Richardson, tho Otago members of the second test team, go north by the express to-morrow morning in order to be in Auckland at the time required by the executive of tho New Zealand Rugby Union. Coomhes and Turnbull went to Invercargill today. MANAWATU V. WANGANUI From a Special Correspondent. Palmerston North, August 19. To-morrow, on the Showgrounds, a match will be played between teams representing Wanganui and Manawatu. This fixture is always eagerly looked forward to by lovers of Rugby in this district, and . to-morrow’s game should provide a sterling contest. Both teams are evenly weighted, and it will be interesting to see bow the Manawatu vanguard shapes after its recent trial of strength against the Springboks. Tho following team will represent Manawatu: —Full-back, E. Hodder; threequarters, Callendar, Swainson, and Glendinning; five-eighths, Eglington and IV. Bramwell; half, Moire; forwards, Carroll, Skinner, Dustin (captain), Harkness, Galpin, Mullins, BucknnlL, and Leader (wing) Emergencies: Backs. Ingham, I. Bjamwell, and M'Kenzie; forwards, Boddy, Heald, arid O’Reilly. The following will represent Wanganui:—Full back, Quirke; three-quarters, Hartley, Collier, Brown; five-eighths, M'Auliffo, Reina; half, Rnddeley; forwards, Sinclair, Gcango, Murphy, Ross, Cox, Quirke, O’Connell, Smith (wing).\ Emergencies: W. Collier, Crotty. Mr. A. W. Thompson, of Palmerston North, will carry the whistle. As a curtain-raiser, Wanganui and Manawatu third grade teams will try conclusions at 1 p.m. ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME FOR TO-DAY At Athletic Park to-day the Rugby Union will offer a most attractive programme. At 3 p.m. Poneke will meet University, whilst the curtain-raisers will be the Moascar Cup game. St. Patrick’s College versus Scots College, on No.’l ground, whilst on No. 2 Oriental will meet Poneke in the final of the fourth grade. All games are expected to produce fast open football. The Rugby’ Union wishes to remind patrons that ample exits aro provided at tho north, south, and western portions of the ground. A special voluntary staff from the clubs has kindly offered assistance to help control the large crowd expected. The. season ticket-holders and reserves are reminded that these admit nt centre gate of the stand, and that all season tickets and reserves must be submitted for examination by’ the official at these gates. The reserve plan will close at 11.15 to-day. at No. 10 Woodward Street. Tho proceeds of the match go to tho park improvements—a purpose worthy of support. THE BALDWIN SHIELD The destination of tho Baldwin Shield, offered for annual competition amongst tho Hutt Valley schools by Mr. Baldwin, was decided yesterday afternoon. _ The teams left in the final were Hutt District High School and Eastern Petone, and each school played a senior and a junior team. The junior match, which was played first.- was won by Hutt by 9 to 0, while tho Hutt seniors won by 22 to 0. The Mayor, Mr. Rishworth, in handing tho trophv congratulated the winners and also referred to Mr. Baldwin’s keen interest in the encouragement of healthy sport. Air. Tamblyn, headmaster of the Hutt School, and Mr. M'Baln, of Petone East, also spoke. The following are the Oriental teams for to-day:— , Fourth v. Poneke—N. Clark, Conway, Cawdell, Tulloch, Chambers, Duffy, Cobby, Mathieson, Hepburn, Hickey, Wright, Ormandy, Fisher. Wilkins, Simmons. M'C'anibridge, Smith. Fifth v.
