"I am extremely dissatisfied with the finding of this Court," announced George Loudon after his appeal had been dismissed by the Assessment Court yesterdFy W. and G. T. Loudon appealed against the valuaticns made on four sections in Cuba Street. The capital value of each of three sections was 414600 (unimproved jvahie -413600), and on tho remaining section, at the corner of Cuba Street and Ghuznee Street, tne values were—capital 4117,400, unimproved .£9990, and improvements 417500. Three of the sections were each 18ft. by 100 ft., and the ono on which tho value was assessed at 4317,400 measured 45ft. x 100 ft. Giving evidence, George Loudon con-’ tended that if .the valuations as assessed were sustained, additional land tax and local rates payable would aggregate .£2OO to 41300 annually. . In the course of a vehement denunciation of the system of valuations in Wellington, the witness alleged that there tWero palpable inconsistencies. “My property is valued at 432 ss. a square foot," he said, “while tho valuation on.,the Royal Oak property works out at -El 16s. a square foot. Is that right?” No evidence was called, and the valua* tion, as previously stated, was sustained.
