MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE
By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, August 17.
Arising out of a collision between a taxi and a dray on the Yaldhurst road on June 7, Alfred Denton, driver of the dray, was to-day committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter of Frank Keenan. The latter had his loft arm broken, and some ribs fractured. He died in the hospital three days later, nnd a post-mortem examination revealed that death was due to shock following the injuries, and associated with chronic alcoholism. It was alleged that Denton was driving without lights and was under the influence of liquor.
