Speaking to the members of lh« Civic Circle of the Auckland Women's Club recently, Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., dwelt upon the great need there is for work among the young girl children of the city to awake in mem, as well as iu the boys, a higher ideal of duty Io their country ami to their Creator. It was only half the problem wuen they fustilled higher meals of living Into - 'the 'boyish mind, and they could not fully succeed unless Che girl also was helped to better things. One of the needs of the Young Citizens' League was for more Tenders for the girls; women who were actuated by a love of the young growing mind of the country and a desire to help build up a better manhood and womanhood. It was not the “goody goody" people who were needed, but tho bright minded and normal intellect, with a desire to help its country to higher life through the instrumentality of its future citizens. Forty-three thousand eight hundred and two persons in tho United Kingdom were assessed for super-tax in 1918-19.
