ATTEMPT TO COMMIT SUICIDE
POLICE INTERVENE IN TIME. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, August 3. The police, called to a residence at Onehunga owing to a threat to commit suicide bv Edward George Metcaltc, a seaman, found the door locked. they burst it open, and, it is reported, knocked a knife obt of Metcalfe s hand as it his heart. Metcalfe had written a letter stating Ins intent.on to commit suicide. Be had been out of work, and, owing to the theft of a ema I sum of money, had been before Uia Court, and was remanded for medical observation and treatment.
