SOUTH AUCKLAND DEFEAT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph--Press Association. Hamilton, August 3. The representative mutch between Wellington and South Auckland was played to-day. it high wind was in evidence, and favoured: Wellington at the outset. In the first half the visitors had the principal portion of tho attack, ,und Balke, full-back, who player! a sound game until he was injured near the olooe of the match, dropped a fine field goal. A South Auckland attack, in which S. J. Wilson and M'Millan were prominent, ended in the latter scoring near the close of the first half. Playing with the wind in tho eeoond spell, South Auckland did most of the pressing, but their passing was not as nippy ns that of tho visitors, for whom Nicholls, a fast fiiui-oighth, played a sound game both in attack and defence. Wilson nnd Meehan scored tries in the second halt' for the home team, both being converted by Dufty. Wellington made several Llfingerous attacks, but failed to add to their score.
