STEAMER ADRIFT IN RIVER

Last night the steamer Wairoa, owing to the high tide, got adrift and was carried well up the river by the tide before tho engineer, who was the only person aboard, discovered the fact. He immediately blow tho whistle, and assistance was rendered before any damage was done.
