VISIT TO OAMARU. By Telegraph. —Press Aaaociation. Oamaru, August 3. The Governor-General, accompanied by Lady Jellicoe and the Hqn. Lucy Jellico®, paid his first official visit to Oamaru this evening. Their Excellencies were tendered d dinner by the citizens, and afterwards attended a reception in the Drill Hall. In the course of his reply to an address of welcome, Lord Jellicoe referred in eulogistic language to the memorial oaks that the town and county had planted along tho highways in memory of the North Otago men who fell in the Great War. Lord Jellicoe said that in all his travels he had not come across a more fitting form of memorial to the fallen. It was a living monument that would keep evergreen the memory of the brave sons of this district who did their duty at the cost of their lives. Lord Jellicoe will visit the Waitaki High School in the morning, attend a review of tho primary schools in the afternoon, and leave for Christchurch later in the day.
