Ths Minister of Defence (Sir Heaton Rhodes) has arranged to go south tomorrow night. He will assist in welcoming the Governor-General at Methven ou Monday, during His Excellency’s visit to tho Minister’s electorate. Upon the retirement .of Mr. C. P. Posies from the position of honorary auditor for tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce, the chamber carried tho following resolution: "That this general meeting of members expresses its deep appreciation, of tho services rendered to the chamber by Mr. Powlos, who has acted as honorary auditor for more than thirty years." Dr. A. W. Averill, Anglican Bishop of Auckland, is in Wellington, to attend fhe sitting of General Synod Standing Committee and the New Zealand Board of Missions. 'The Mayor of Auckland (Mr. J. H. Gunson) is at present in Wellington. Mr. M. Hawkins, chief inspector of prisons, is in Auckland on departmental business, and will remain there for a few davs. Mr. Antonio Megaldo, a prominent member of the Druids, has died at Christchurch. In his earlier years he served in the Italian Navy, but was for a long period a resident of Canterbury province.
