BY-LAW CASES

Offenders against the by-laws were dealt with bv Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. For driving his motor-car past a •tationary tramcar, Harold R. Peard was fined 20s. and 7s. costs. W. G. Fitzgerald was ordered to pay 7e. costs for leaving his horse and express unattended in Garrett Street. For having no light on his motor-car W. H. Hargraves was fined ss. and 7s. costs. R. Welsby was ordered to pay 19s. costs and expenses for leaving his horso and vehicle unattended in the street. W. Calvan was fined 10s. and 7s. costs for driving his motor-car on the wrong side of Courtenay Place, and a similar penalty was inflicted on him for driving over an intersection at an excessive •peed. For leaving his motor-car unattended in the street. N. B. Chapman was fined ss. and 7s. costs. Cvril Cheeseman was fined ,10s. and 7s. costs for riding his motor-/ycle at an excessive .speed over the intersection of Manners and Willis Streets. For driving a motor lorry without lights on the Hutt Road, Henry Haywood was fined 20s. and 7s. costs. Charles E. King was ordered to pay 7s. costs "for driving a motor-car for hire without being licensed; and J." Leach, for plying for hire with an unlicensed motor-car. was fined ss. and 15s. costs. For having no tail light on his motor lorry, P. Wiltshire was fined ss. and 7s. costs. Mary Deckston, landlady of a house, ,No. 32 Jessie Street, was fined 40s. and costs and expenses £1 16s. for failing to effect repairs to the wash tubs in the house. For evading payment of his tram fare. Charles Edwards was fined 20s. and costs 395. ,
