TWO OFFERS
A ~ OF HALF-A-MILLION EACH MAYOR SANGUINE THAT CITY LOAN WILL FLOAT With all the world rushing to London for money, the question has been asked whether the £750,000 loan of the Wellington City Council will float in London, and, if not, what is to be done to relieve the situation. Tho Mayor (Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P.) is quite sanguine on the point. "The prospectuses went away by the Tahiti yesterday, and should arrive in London iust about the time, or a little before, the two months' embargo the Imperial Government is lifted. That, I am told, is a most opportune time to venture upon the market.” And vou think it will float? "Oh, yes,” said the Mayor, "I havt little doubt that it will float, and it ought to. There’s lots of money about. Do you know that we’ve had two offers of money recently. One was for half a million at 74 par cent.—an Auckland company, with English capital—and the other was a similar amount at a little lass. On that I take it that our loan will float all right. At least, I’m very hopeful that it will!”
