M'Taggart, of the Department of Agriculture, was a passenger for 'Frisco by the Tahiti yesterday. Mr. M. G. Phelan loft by tho Tahiti for ’Frisco yesterday. Mr. P. Caffin, of Auckland, was among the passengers for 'Frisco by the Tahiti yesterday. Mr P- J- Ryan, of Messrs. Granby and Co., of Napier, left for 'Frisco by the Tahiti yesterday. Lieut.-Colonel F. Symon, C.M.G., D. 5.0., of the Royal New Zealand Artillery at Christchurch, will be in Wellington on Thursday to attend the annual reunion of the Ist Brigade New Zealand Field Artillery, of which he was in command for the greater part of the time during which it was engaged, in the Western European theatre of operations in the late war. Mr. W. Cotton, of lower Hutt, yesterday gave notice of his intention to resign his scat on the council of the Central Chamber of Commerce. Ths chairman (Mr. 11. Hart) greatly regretted Mr. Cotton’s intention, as ho had not only represented tho Hutt Valley very ably, but had helped to shoulder their burdens in the city. Mr. Cotton said that he found he was connected with too many local bodies. As tho financial vear of the chamber concludes at. the end of the month, Mr. Cotton agreed to withhold his resignation and allow his appointment to lapse by effluxion of time. Lieut.-Colonel E. H. Northcroft, DSO officer in command of the New Zealand Field Artillery Northern District, will arrive in Wellington on Thursday to attend the second annual reunion ‘of the let Brigade New Zealand Field Artillery, in which ho saw considerable service os a battery commander during the late war.
