MUNICIPAL GOLF LINKS
ANOTHER NINE HOLES TO BE READY NEXT MONTH. Followers of golf will be pleased to
learn that the director of reserves (Mr. J. M'Kenzie) and his stiff have made such good progress with the laying down of the greens that the new nine-hole course, or, rather, the nine-holo extension of the municipal golf links at Berhamporo, will be ready for play, probably about the second week in August. The turfing on the greens has taken well, and there promises to be a fine sole of grass on each green, to stand the heavy wear in store for them. Hitherto players have “teed" off from the top of .the hill at the northern end of the old links, but the provision of another nine holes rather alters the .situation. Greater satisfaction will be experienced by players if the first "tee” is laid just to the north of Wakefield Park, in a position, easily reached from Adelaide Road. From there the old links will be played round to the starting point, and those wishing to play the full eighteen holes will then have to cross Adelaide Road and play the new nine holes, a course which encompasses a.i extensive sunny hillside. In view of the early opening of the extended course. Air. Al'Kenzie is making arrangements to remove the golfhouse from ite present position to a site immediately to the north of AVakefield Park, and right opposite a tramway stopping place.
