TWO FIRES TN CITY
SLIGHT DAMAGE DONE. At 8 o’clock yesterday morning the setvices of the Fire Brigade wore required nt No. 42 Abel Smith Street, a priß'te dwelling, where sparks had ignited bedding in one of the rooms. Slight damage was done. The building, owned by Ellis nnd ATanton. is insured in the New Zealand Office for .£450. Tl'o orenpier is Dlivid Ritchie, lire contents being iixmred in tire London and Lancashire Office for £2OO. The brigade was called out ai'nin at: 6.45 p.m. to suppress a small fire in Robertson and Co.’s iron foundry, Old Customhouse Street. Some sacks and rubbish close to one of the furnaces had become overheated and hurst into flames. Slight damage was done to tire building before the fire was put out.
