CONFERENCE WITH SHIPOWNERS IN LONDON FURTHER NEGOTIATIONS IN NEW ZEALAND By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, July 19. At a meeting yesterday, the committee appointed by Mr. Massey’s conference of New Zealand producers and shipowners exhaustively reviewed tho position of shipments and freights generally from both points of view. It was agreed that the question of freights and cargoes be again considered in New Zealand not later than the first week in next January. The shipowners expressed their readliness to give every consideration to the position then, irrespective of existing contracts and with reference to such reduction in tho working cost of steamers as may have then taken place. It was also agreed that negotiations with regard to the renewal of current contracts should take place at the same time.—Special to Press Assn. DROP IN RATES FOR WHEAT. Sydney, July 21. Shipping freight rates for wheat are quoted' at £2 fe. per ton, which is regarded as bedrock. Freight has fallen since October from £8 6s. per ton.— Press Assn.
