BOXING TOURNEY TO-NIGHT
An attractive programme of nine bouts has been arranged for to-night’s tourney in the Town Hall. The star items will 'be two six-round exhibition bouts by such well-known exjwnents of boxing as Prod Preston, Carl Calloway, Pat Gleeson, and Bob Williams. All of these count splendid performances to their credit. Gleeson and Williams have nn-t the best men of their class in Australasia, and both are ex-champions of NeWgSouth Wales. Calloway claims the weltw-weight championship of New Zealand, and Preston is an Australian boxer of promise. These boxers are expected to give a first-class exhibition of ring craft and the finer points of the fistic art. In addition, seven other bouts between some of the best local talent will be put on. These include a middleweight bout between M'Kegg and Steward. The fly-weight, paper-weight, feather-weight, and bantam classes are catered for in the remaining bouts. Mr. Earl Stewart will referee, and the first, bout will start at 8 o’clock.
