Br Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, July 19. In order io provide work for unemployed returned soldiers, the City Council has decided to put in hand a number of special works. It has also resolved that a cablegram bo sent to Mr. Massey, drawing attention to the difficulty of procuring employment not only for retained soldiers, but for others, particularly married men, and pointing out the undesirability, therefore, of encouraging immigration.
