KELBURN TRAMWAY
EMPLOYEES’ DEMANDS.
A sitting of the Conciliation Council will be held on August 8 for the purpose of hearing a dispute filed by the Wellington Tramwaymen’s Union in respect to tho employees of the Kelburn and Karori Tramway Company, Ltd. The union is asking that f'ho Kelbura Company’s employees shall bo granted a 48-hour week, the following to be the minimum rate of pay:—Gripmen: 2s. per hour for the first year, thereafter 2s. Id.; ropeiuen: first year, 2s. Id., thereafter 2s. 2d.; women ticket and parcel attendants: first year Is. 3d.,, thereafter Is. 4d ; women ticket-clippers: first year Is. 2d., thereafter Is, 3d.; rush-hour women clippers, 6s. 6d. per day. Overtime is claimed at the rate of time and a, half, Sunday work and all work done after midnight to be paid for at double rates. . It is asked that all employees required to work upon public and statutory holidays shall receive an annual holiday of 45 consecutive days on full pay, and that all work performed on Christmas Day and Good Friday shall bo paid for at tho rate of double time. The union wishes all employees to ho supplied with a uniform and overcoat annually, and it is suggested that tho award granted shall operate for a period of twelve months from July 2, 1921. Assessors for the union before the Conciliation Council will be Messrs. C*. Hobbs, H. Rogers, and A. L. Monteith.
