interruption of power SUPPLY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, July 16. A heavy nor’-wester on the Canterbury Plains yesterday caused an interruption of the Lake Coln-idge power supply in the evening. An interruption occurred on ono of the two main transmission lines at 2 p.m., the remaining lino carrying tho load till <-0 p.m., when another break occurred, leaving the city and: suburbs in total darkness and stopping tho trams. A temporary supply of power was obtained from the tramway and city steam plants. There was some delay in getting up steam, owing to the poor quality of the coal used. Fifty minutes elapsed before the resumption of the tram service. Tho city steam plant supplied power for the theatres and the residential area, current being available for the former within about half an hour. The street lights were not restored till 9.85. The Lake Ooleridg* supply. was available again. at
