Obituary.—Major-General Sir George Arthur French," former Commandant of the forces in Queensland and New South Wales— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [Sir George French was born in Roscommon, Ireland, in 1814. and w.as educated at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. Ho joined the Royal Artillery in 1860. He spent several years in Canada, and for his services there was decorated. He was Commandant of the forced in Queensland, with tho rank of colonel, from 1883 to 1891, nnd was Major-General Commanding tho Now South Wales forces from 1896 to 1902.]
