SOMME COMMUNES
PRESENTATION OF CROIX DE GUERRE. (Rec. July 12, 1.15 a.m.) Paris, July 11. Amid appropriate military honours and stirring patriotic speeches, 319 Somme communes received the Croix de Guerre at the hands of the Minister of War, M. Barthou. Marshal Foch assisted. Lieutenant-General Lord Cavan, representing Britain, was also - present, as well as the Afayors of municipalities and prominent English towns which adopted ruined Somme villages. -Reuter.
