The Minister of Education (Hon. C. ,1. Parr) left Wellington on Saturday. Ho is expected back early in tho week. The Minister of Lands (Hon. D. H. Guflirie) has returned to Wellington after a visit to tho Waikato district. It. is reported from London by the Press Association that the University of Oxford conferred the honorary degree of D.C.L. on Sir Robert' Stout. Chief Justice of Now Zealand Mr. lan A. Afqckay was appointed general secretary of the Wellington Caledonian Society at the half-yearly meet, ing last week.
