A send-off social under the auspices of tho National Association of Spiritualist Churches of New Zealand (Incorporated) was tendered by the Wellington Spiritualist Church to Mrs. Rhodes, certificated lecturer and medium of the National Association, who is leaving for Dunedin under engagement to the Dunedn Church. The send-off took the form of a social and dance, which was much enjoyed. Brief reference to the work of Mrs. Rhodes and the national business generally was made by the vicepresident of the N.A.S.C., Mr. V. H. R. Deacon, and by the national secretary, Mr. A. H. Miles. Mrs. Rhodes suitably responded. A programme of musical and elocutionary items was presented during the evening. The following contributed items:—Misses Q. Harper, D. Harper, E. Harper, V. Johnson., Nation, Pearce, Mesdames Deacon, Aucell, Hern, Tonge, Messrs. Hern, Deacon, Field. Approximately 4,018,999,009 gallons of petrol were consumed by motor vehicles in the United States last year, or ar average of 452.1 gallons per vehicle.
