THE SPRINGBOKS
WIN AGAINST METROPOLITAN TEAM i DEFEAT IN NEW ZEALAND PREDICTED By Telegraph— Press Association— Copyright (Rec. July 6, 8.39 p.m.) Sydney, July 6. , Tho Springboks defeated tho Metropolitan team by 14 points to 8. The Metropolitans displayed the form of the New South Wales team, six of whom were in the Metropolitan team. The visitors scored 11 points to nil in the first half, by clever orthodox play, relieved by occasional flashes of individual brilliancy. On their Sydney form, however, they are not likely to emerge from their New Zealand tour unconquered. Ths Metropolitan men rallied dangerously in the closing stages ■ of the game, but were unable to carry their movements to a final success, failing at critical moments. H. Morkel scored three tries and G. Morkel kicked two goals (one a penalty), while for th* Metropolitans Sheehan and Carr got a, try each, Buchanan converting one. — Press Assn, TEAM TO LEAVE SYDNEY BY ULIMAROA TO-DAY. Sydney, July 6.
