The Foreign Office has issued a statement declaring that by no stretch of imagination can it honestly be said that tho Anglo-Japanese Alliance is desired or remotely intended to be an instrument of hostility, or even of defence, against America. —Aus.-N.Z. The "Morning Post.” supports the Japanese Alliance, saying: “Denunciation of the Treaty does not mean the isolation of Japan, but, on the contrary, means that Japan will seek friends elsewh«ro; and where would she find a ’ ior welcome than in Soviet Russia, which thrives on hostility to the British Empire?
