THE WEATHER

« FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indication# are for strong southerly winds, backing to easterlies shortly northwards of East Cape and Kawhia. Weather cold and changeable generally, with showers In many parts, particularly In the east roast nnd northernmost districts. The barometer has a rising tendency. Considerable rain fell on Saturday and Sunday in districts with a westerly aspect, and high southerly winds and cold squally and showery conditions have been experienced generally since Sunday night, with much snow in tho high country of the South Island.
