Glcncoh-

On Friday next at 9 p-m. nominations close for ell events, with the exception of tho Trial Plato, at the winter meeting of ths Wellington Racing Club. Acceptances for all events at the Dannevirke Hunt Club meeting close on Friday next at 8 p.m. The Hawke’s Bay meeting will open to-dav. With the exception’ of the wellendowed Hawke’s Bay Steeplechase which has only drawn a field of ha.l a dozen, and two of them are also in the Hock Steeplechase, the fields are of a good size, though class is not by any means a strong feature Racing will commence at 11.30 a.m. with tho Hunters’ Hurdles. Whetoke, a winner at Hawera last month, represents the best form in the race. Pavilion is a horeo with more pace than the average hunter, and if he can negotiate the upright fences at Hastings ho will set the others a task to head bun off. Torps, who has done a lot oi hunting with Sturdee, may b» the best of the others.

If Te Toa is saddled up in the Huck Steeplechase he may go out a warm favourite, for in the Napier i’te 6 P[ e<:has .? he led nearly all the way ti 1 he fell at the last fence. Reparoa is a good safe conveyance, and should have no difficulty in filling a place. The two Napier winners, The Baronet and Penury Rose, also the runner-up Fiddlestring, are to compete in the Hack Hurdles. The form of the trio does not read well, and Hyttus, a good per former on the flat, may improve sufficiently on his Napier form to reverse £ Placing to-day. There js a long run on the flat between the last two snlendid jumper that he may boar out the Egmont and Napier form, and ago: ■ account for the other pair. Mort Avis, Rebuff, Locbson, and Waterform, who iare engaged in the Hack Handicap, are all recent winne , and the last-mentioned m parfacular likelv to be a better horse Mter ms race at Napier. So will Gamiboola, who looked short of a xane on At tho last meeting the son of Wol Counted for a much better field than he is up against to-day. Several of the winners in the big meeting last year, when he won a past he has not run up to it in races.
