BUTTER GRADING
A STIFFENING-UP ADVOCATED
(By Telegraph—Special Reporter.) Palmerston North, Juno 21. An interesting discussion relative to the necessity of improving the grade of New Zealand butter took place at to-day’s conference of tho National Dairv Association, when Mr. G. S a "°' ster "(Midhirst Dairy Co.) moved:- that a recommendation be made to the Department of Agriculture that the time has arrived when it is desirable that an extra grade should be given for■ butter scoring 92 points and over, to be called excellent." According to the mover it must lie apparent to eveij company that a change was necessary. In opposition to tho proposal it was contended that if three grades of butter were made, they would not get a hettc price for superfine, which would simplj take the .place of first-grade butter. Mr. Broadbeilt. (Lovin) moved an amendment:— "That it be a rec ' mendation to the AsHOuitura!
