IRISH REPUBLIC

SENATOR NORRIS’S RECOGNITION RESOLUTION.

(Rec. June 21, 9.55 p.m.) Washington, June 20. Senator Norris (Republican, Nebraska), in a speech supporting hie resolution to recognise the Irish republic, declared that Britain was tantamount to a slaveholder. Ho declared that British military methods were beyond defence, whereas the Irish methods were for selfdefence. Mr. Lloyd George’s war-time promise of self-determination Rad been nullified, and Ireland betrayed, by the autocrats sitting in secret around ths peace table.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
