YOUTHFUL civil servant GUILTY. Yesterday afternoon, before Mr. F. K Hunt. S.M., a lad, 17 years of age, whose name, the Magistrate ordered should not be published, P^ ded to stealing X 7 in money, the V lO of the Internal Affairs Department. Mr. W. Perry nppeared fov accusec Chief Detective Ward said that the lad had been in the Government sem e for the past two years, and had r«wnUy been employed in the Internal _ Department, where a lot of money w . handled. The lad had missed the guiding hand of hie father, who was killed about 18 months ago. It was suggested by the Chief Detective that the lad should placed on probation under severe conditions, and Mr. Perry also urged that this course should be adopted. ’ The Magistrate placed the lad on pi bation for 12 months, " nd wa ™® d i?‘“ t that if he again came befbro the Court he would he severely punished.
