Some of the hairdressers and barbers In Manchester announced a few weeks ago a reduction in prices. Haircutting is now Bd., as against Is., and shaving 4d., compared with fid. One of the reasons given early last year for an advance in the rate was the'increase in the price of soap, but a reduction of some 20 pnr cent, took place in January, and the benefit of this change is only now being given to the customer, remarks the "Guardian.” Tho police business in ths Magistrate's Court yesterday consisted of the oonvfotion of thre,e first offenders for insobriety.
