(Rec, June 19, 5.5 p.m.) London, June 18. The "Westminster Gazette” critic, discussing tho open golf championship, which commences at St. Andrew s on Monday, says: "If the winner is not one of Hie following six, Alitchell, Hutchinson (who is a native of St. Andrew’s), Kirkwood, Ray. Havers, or Duncan, we shall be much surprised. Mitchell’s play last month was most brilliant, and on present form he is incomparably the world s best eolfer If he were as great a stroke as a match player the championship ought to be a “cake walk” foi- him. We are strongly inclined to fancy the chances of Mitchell, Hutchinson, and KirkXd against the rest of the field.” -Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
