The subject of tho union of the Presbyterian 'and Congregational churches was briefly considered by the A uckland Presbytery at its meeting when a report was presented'by the committee appointed to consider the basis of union recommended by the committee set up by tho assembly. Tho report substantially approved tho recommendations of the assembly’s committee. Tho scheme provided that the church notice boards should bear the inscription: “The Presbyterian Church of Now Zealand, united with tho Congregational Church of New Zealand.’’ Congregational ministers would be received into the unffed church without further induction, and each church would follow its own lino of service. Provisions were also ■includ’d for the disposal of funds from the sale ot church property and other provisions for the support of the London Missionary Society. No church may be closed without tho consent of a. majority of the members of the congregation. In the discussion that followed, the view was expressed that the title Io bo inscribed on notice boards was cumbersome. It was pointed out, however, that the inscription was thus designed to acquaint overseas Congregationalists visiting the country with the fact of tho churches’ union. Tho Rev. W. G. Blair thought there should be a clause in tho scheme providing for tho signing by ministers cf the confession of faith. It was resolved that the recommendations of the assembly’s committee as amended by the Presbytery's commitlee be approved. The world is waiting for flic iriari with ideas. And often the simples! inventions are the most useful and the most lucrative. Your idea may be very valuable. Get it protected by Patent Rights.
