MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL
The Mnkara County Council me. yesterday, Councillor S. Bryant presiding. There were also present: Councillors, h Wir'dley, L. D. Nairn, S. Styles, S. ler. and* H. J. Monaghan. It. was decided to approve of tho p!»‘ posal to erect a fallen soldiers' memorial at Newlands anj to make the neces sary application to the Minister of 1-* ternal Affairs. In connection with the estiiblishmen r of the Titaki Bay Life-saving Club a letter was read from the secretary in reply co the council’s reejuest lor information. The letter asked if the council desired the information with a view to assisting lb© club, and stated that the club had been formed with the object of anticipating any future accidents on the beach. It also mentioned that pmie adverse criticism had boon made of th<L- club’s efforts. As soon as the council’s reply had been received, it continued, a meeting would be held. It was reported that a meeting was to b/? called, and the council decided defer consideration of the matter until later.
