Newcastle on Munday for Wellington with a cargo of coat. As’ she sailed less than twenty-four hours after the four-masted barque Alice A. Leigh there is a prospect of an interesting race across the Tasman Rea. These ships suffered a Long delay at Newcastle, where they arrived on March 27 ana <-) respectively, waiting for their cargoes. Between them these two hie sailing snip, a.re carrying over 7000 tons of ooAL .

WHAKATANE TO COMPLETE. Th© Wha.kata.no was to leave Gisborne last evening to complete Homeward loading at Wellington. She is to sail from Wellington next Wednesday for Loudon. CITY OF WINCHESTER. The City of Winchester is to leave Dun-' din to-day for Bluff and Lyttelton to load for Home. She is timed to leave Lyttelton for Australia about June 21 to complete loading. From Australia she will go to London. BLACKBALL COLLIERS. The Ngahero Is due hero from Greymouth early next week. The Npakuta will not go to Lyttelton from Gisborne now. but will go to Greymouth. leaving to-day. She will call in here to-morrow It is hoped to dispatch the Ngatoro for New Plymouth on Monday to complete discharge. She has put out a quantity of bunker coal for the Shropshire here. PALOONA TO SAIL TO-DAY. The Union Company’s steamer Paloona should sail at 2 p.m. to-day for Melbourne direct. MAHIA DELAYED. The iB.B. and A. liner Mahia is now to leave Picton at daybreak to-morrow, and Is due here later in the day. She will sail for Napier on Wednesday, and will leave that port for London about. June 18. MANUKA LEAVES SYDNEY. The Union Company’s steamer Manuka left Sydney at 10.45 a.m. yesterday for Wellington, and is due here on Monday. Rhe has 130 passengers aboard. The -Manuka will leave Wellington at 10.30 a.m. next Thursday on the return trip. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain B. B. Irwin has taken command of the Mararoa, and Captain F. G. Bilton has come ashore for instructions. Mr. F. W. Collins, late second officer of the Wahine, has transferred to the Mararoa in a similar capacity, Mr. H. A. Brockett, second officer of the Waltomata, has transferred to the Wafhora -as second officer. Mr. ’R. M. Kane has rejoined the Koranni as chief officer. . Mr. H. A. Anderson has rejoined tne Corinna as chief officer. Mr. P. C. Chappell has joined the Paloona as purser vice Mr. Shersou. The Kini is to load esrly next week at Greymouth for Wellington. The Wootton is to sail for Lyttelton today, and is due back here on Tuesday. She will sail again on Wednesday. The Putiki is not due from Tokomarn ’ Bav now until to-morrow, and consequently she will not sail for Waikokopu until Tuesday. , _ _ The Karamu is due to-day from Greymouth, and will return to that port, about Tuesday. . _ Tho Blenheim arrived yesterday from Havelock and Rounds. Her future movements are indefinite. The Katoa is due on Tuesday from Lyttelton', and should sail for Aucklandthe same day. t Tho Zita sailed last night for Lyttelton to load for Wellington. . The Kanna has been delayed, and is not due from Napier now until to-morrow. She will sail for Lyttelton and Dunedin on Monday. The Coronation sailed yesterday for West Haven. She will probably arrive back hero about the end of next week. The Rama is to sail for Dunedin, Oamaru. and Timaru on Monday. . The Kawatiri has been delayed, and is not expected here from Oamaru before Tuesday. In consequence ner departure for New Plymouth has been delayed until Wednesday.
