HUTT RIVER CONTROL
A meeting of the Hutt River Board, over which the chairman (Mr. W. T. Strand) presided, was held last evening, when there worn present: Messrs. J. Braseli. S. Clendon. J. Mitchell, and J. Mabcy. It was decided to write Mr. Ixiing-Men-son the consulting engineer requesting him to furnish a fee, including transit and travelling expenses, for the FUI-mis-slon of a quarterly report on the condition of the river. , , , x The secretary wan instructed to communicate with the clerks of other river lizards, with a view to obtaining information regarding the payment of rates on land on which step-banks are built. Tlie overseer (Mr. F. Kershaw) reported that the willow and cable work at Speedy’s had been completed, and the fences at the lower end of the stop-bank had been repaired. Mr. Brasell moved, and Mr. Mitchell seconded. that the portion of land above Moiling Bridge ebe protected. Mr. Glendon moved ns iln amendment, that the Borough Council be approached and asked to bear a proportion of tho cost of the protection of Moiling Bridge. Mr. Mabey seconded the amendment, which was carried.
