THE COAL STRIKE
END ALMOST CERTAIN NEXT WEEK GOVERNMENT’S OFFERED GRANT EXPECTED TO BE DECIDING FACTOR AT TO-DAY’S CONFERENCE Sy Telegraph—Pres* Association—Copyright London, Juno 8. The "Morning Post” says that it is almost certain that the coal strike will end next week. The nows that tho Miners’ Executive had called a delegates’ conference is considered on the coalfields to indicate that tho time has como for the mon to go back to work. All along tho leaders declined to let tho rank and file vote until they had something to place before the men which they could reasonably be asked to accept. Friday’s conference will certainly decide to get the Government’s offer of .£10,000,000 for the miners whilo there is time. Another week’s suffering can be saved if a return to work is ordered without a ballot.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
