GARAGE BURNED DOWN

OWNER INJURED BY EXPLOSION

Oamaru, May 30.

A garage with new plant and a stock of modern appliances, owned by G. T. Gillies, was destroyed by fire at 6 a.m. ■yesterday, as the result of an explosion, whereby the owner was severely burned, and is now in hospital. Four cars and a motor-cycle were burned. Two cars were saved. The owner was in the garage preparatory to a daylight departure for the country. The insurances are—•C3(X) on the premises ’in the South British office. £5OO on the goods in the State office and an amount (which has not been stated definitely) on line stock, lire wall was burned out of G. Harris’s shed, adjoining.
