(From Our Own Correspondent.) Palmerston North, May 27. There was a very lurge attendance at the half-yearly euiunioiied meeting of the Oroua Lodge, U.A.0.D., held at Palmerston North, Bro. I’olkinghorne, A.D., presiding. P.A. Bro. A. Clark, P.A. Bro. Polkiughorne, and Secretary Bro. Jones were appointed representative's of the lodge at the forthcoming conference in connection with the establishment of a maternity home. An
official visit by members of the lodge will bs paid to the Tokomaru Lodge on June 1. Two now members were initiated end one was received by clearance. Four candidates were proposed for roemberohip. manner in which the recipient hud carried cut the duties of his office, and in eid.-nially remarked that it was very gratifying to find that Bro. Jolly was following in the footsteps of his late father, who was the first secretary of I lie Oroua Lodge, which received its charter as far back aS 1883. Bio. Jolly fe.-l-inply responded. Bro. Rush took his final leave of his mother lodge, and dining the course of his remarks tbinked the members collectively and individually for the splendid support, that had
been accorded him during the last twenty-seven years. During the owning visiting brethren from Sydney, Queensland. Ngarnwnhiu, Foxion, and Sydenham were welcomed by the Arch Druid. The annual meeting of the Manawatii Boxing Association was held last evening, Mr. IT. 1.-. Y’oung presiding. The annual report «tnt-.-d that matters gener- ! ally wore in a most satisfactory position, there being a. credit balance of 670, w'th J assets to the value of over .£lOO.
